Viking Danube River Cruise – Passage to Eastern Europe

My first Danube River Cruise on a Passage to Eastern Europe

My first Viking European river cruise on the Rhine River was an unforgettable solo experience, following the naming of seven new longships in Basel, Switzerland. Now, I am certainly excited to return to Europe for a five-country Viking Danube River Cruise on the Passage to Eastern Europe. This journey takes us from Bucharest, Romania, to Budapest, Hungary, along the romantic Danube River, aboard the small ship, Viking Ullur.

Small Ship Cruising aboard Viking Ullur

I am especially thrilled that my husband, Lawrence, will join me for his first Viking River Cruise. I look forward to experiencing the adventure through his eyes. We have previously cruised together on Viking Jupiter and Viking Octantis in the Baltics and Great Lakes, respectively. Indeed, we are both excited to be back aboard Viking on an even smaller ship.

I am particularly jazzed about taking Lawrence to see my ancestral roots in small towns outside of Budapest. Moreover, I look forward to enjoying some home-cooked Hungarian dishes like my mother used to make. Notably, being fluent in Hungarian, this will be the perfect opportunity for me to practice a language I rarely use since my parents passed away. This Viking Danube River Cruise is certainly going to be an incredible journey and an emotional return to Hungary for me.
