Cruising the Danube River aboard Viking Cruises’ Ullur from Bucharest to Budapest

My first Danube River Cruise on a Passage to Eastern Europe

My first Viking European river cruise on the Rhine River, following the naming of 7 new longships in Basel, Switzerland, was an unforgettable solo experience. I am very excited to be going back to Europe for a 5-country cruise on the Passage to Eastern Europe, from Bucharest, Romania to Budapest, Hungary on the romantic Danube River.

Small Ship Cruising aboard Viking Ullur

I am thrilled that my husband, Lawrence, will be joining me for his first Viking River Cruise, and I am looking forward to seeing the adventure through his eyes. We have cruised together on Viking Jupiter, and Viking Octantis in the Baltics and Great Lakes respectively, and are both excited to be back aboard with Viking on an even smaller ship.

I am particularly jazzed about taking Lawrence to see my ancestral roots in small towns outside of Budapest and to having some home-cooked Hungarian dishes like my mother used to make. Being fluent in Hungarian, this will be the perfect opportunity for me to practice a language I rarely use since my parents passed away. It is going to be an incredible river cruise and an emotional return to Hungary for me.
